The 2020GreenEnergy Plan

The Utilities’ Role

2020GreenEnergy will bring an era of opportunity for electric utility companies, including:

  • Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E),
  • Southern California Edison (SCE),
  • San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E), and
  • the many smaller companies throughout California.

The primary opportunities for these and other companies will be in building and maintaining generating, transmission, and storage facilities for CEInet.

Instead of operating as monopolies, they will be free to seek new business opportunities that are now off-limits to them.

They will be in a far better position than they are today, because instead of economic meltdown, a mind-boggling state budget deficit, and rampant jobs layoffs, there will be solid budget surplus and a prosperous economy with lots of good jobs.

The companies that agressively invest in CEInet infrastructure will earn more for their investors, not only because they will have more to offer in terms of electricity generation and energy transmission and storage services, but because in a climate of economic prosperity, their customers will have the money to pay for these things.

The companies will also be able to better serve their customers, because in a climate of economic prosperity, they (the companies) will have more money to invest in CEInet infrastructure.

Their customers can be both end users of electricity, and those wanting to send or store energy via company-owned transmission links or storage facilities.

The companies that agressively invest in CEInet infrastructure will provide better job opportunities not only for their present employees, but for new ones as well.  CEInet will be a complete transformation of California's electrical infrastructure, and a lot of people will be needed to make it happen.
