The 2020-Gre Structure
The principal elements of 2020-Gre are:
-
Renewable energy sources, meeting strict Certification requirements,
to supply California’s energy needs with a seven-day reserve.
-
The California Energy Internet (CEInet),
a new 21st-century energy grid for California,
like no other in the world, to guarantee that Californians with excess renewable energy
to can deliver it anywhere in California, and after California’s needs are met,
to anywhere in North America via Export Gateways.
CEInet will guarantee that California will never have to import energy.
-
The California Energy Agencies (CEA), collectively refers to these existing state agencies:
- the California Energy Commission (CEC),
- the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), and
- the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).
These three agencies will work together
to direct the implementation of 2020-Gre,
and to oversee the creation, operation,
and ongoing evolution of CEInet beyond the year 2020.
For this task, they will take on numerous additional responsibilities,
some of which will be outlined on these pages as this site evolves.
